The MaxFit Movement Institute wants to make sure we all
walk the talk together. So we recommend individualized programs
of activity and organize regular events for our network
of patients, practitioners and friends. And there is almost
always some sort of picnic involved. Movement requires fuel,
after all!
Personal
Training
MaxFit works with several certified personal trainers who
will help you implement a MaxFit exercise prescription or
develop a holistic exercise program to meet your specific
needs or goals. Our personal trainers will guide and motivate
you to achieve movement wellness and sustained health.
Whether your primary fitness goal
is weight loss, reshaping/sculpting/firming, increasing
stamina and endurance levels, increasing muscular strength
and definition or a combination of the above, receiving
personalized direction in your workout will maximize the
results. There is no set formula for the number of sessions
you need with a trainer. Your program will be tailored to
meet your specific needs.

Sports Specific Training
MaxFit personal trainers can develop
a training program to enhance your performance in your sport.
The fitness requirements of different sports vary, therefore
the training for each sport should as well. Specific training
directed towards your sport, with its unique physical demands,
makes sense. The cardio vascular, strength and flexibility
components can be designed to give you the advantage needed
to maximize your performance.
Rehabilitation Training
If you require help recovering from
or living with an acute or chronic physical injury we will
develop an exercise program, based on information provided
by your integrated health team and designed for your specific
needs. The goal of a Rehabilitation Exercise Program is
to assess your needs and design an individual training program
that will aid you in regaining function that has been lost.
Yoga
Yoga is an ancient discipline that originated over 5,000
years ago in India. Like all MaxFit therapies, activities
and events, Yoga provides a holistic system to help you
acquire healthy and balanced states for the mind, body and
soul.
When the five senses and mind are still, and reason
itself rests in silence, then begins the Path supreme. Thus
calm steadiness of the senses is called yoga.
The
Upanishads.
In the sixth century BC, perhaps
the greatest and best known work on yoga was written: the
Bhagavad-Gita.
The Bhagavad-Gita describes yoga as:
• equilibrium in success
and failure
• skilful living
• the supreme secret
of life
• source of the greatest
happiness
• effected by self-control
• non-attachment
• the elimination of
pain
• serenity
MaxFit works with instructors that practice popular forms
of yoga aimed more at relaxation than spiritual enlightenment.
Yoga postures and meditations provide both physical exercise
and relaxation. There is a clear link between physical and
mental tension. Yoga postures demand concentration and a
stilling of the mind. Relax the mind and the body will follow.
Free both the mind and body to move.

Meditation
MaxFit includes Meditation as one
of our alternative therapies. It is closely related to Mind/Body
Medicine. We prescribing meditation as a way to lower blood
pressure, improve exercise performance, help people breathe
easier, relieve insomnia and generally relax the everyday
stresses of life. Meditation is a safe and simple way to
balance physical, emotional, and mental states.
